Special Limited Opening Request For Liberian Women Writers ***Deadline Midnight Monday, June 17th 

The Women of Color Writers’ Community invites Liberian Writers to submit their writing for possible inclusion in Boundaries & Borders a Theme-Based Anthology that broadly interprets  experiences of living within or overcoming the confines of culture, status, and condition/s in our lives – written as you choose to write about it.  

We are seeking a Diversity of Writing That Meets the Anthology’s Theme  

Our Goal – to Present, Underrepresented Womens’ Literary Works to the World 

SUBMISSION DETAILS – Submissions are closed for this Anthology. This is a special opening for women of Liberian descent only. Readers Fee $10.00 Fee is waived for those living outside of the USA 

Poetry – 5 poems for a total of not more than 7 pages maximum 

Fiction or Nonfiction – Maximum count 2,000 words (no exceptions) 

Original freestanding artwork (unpublished artwork must be your own – No Fee required) 

INTERNATIONAL Submissions – NO FEE REQUIRED (All other guidelines prevail) 


LIMITS ON SUBMISSIONS: We accept up to 5 poems per author. Note: We reserve the right to limit the number of works published  

  • *Reading Fee – $10.00 – (5 poems are considered 1 submission) – Fee waived if outside the US • Deadlines – June 17, 2021 -Must be adhered to  

FORMATTING: – Please follow guidelines precisely  

Documents must be formatted in WORD  

  • 1” inch margins – 12-point font – double spaced (except for poetry) – numbered pages 
  • Note: If accepted you will be required to submit a short bio and headshot 
  • Work submitted must be free of typos and unintentional grammatical mistakes. If Selected we will notify you SUBMITTING YOUR WORK – PLEASE:  
  • E-mail (only) submissions to: E-mail as an attachment Poetry (up to 5) must be emailed in one document 
  • Εmail Subject Line: Subject line should include: Liberian Submission – Genre of Work Submissions will be reviewed anonymously. PLEASE DO NOT write your name on your submission pages- Do Title Each Poem 

BODY OF EMAIL: Please include the following in the body of your e-mail, 

  • Your Full Name (Remember DO NOT put your name on your submission) 
  • Title and Genre of the Work 
  • Telephone Number(s) 
  • Your E-mail Address 
  • A Short paragraph describing how your work meets the theme of Boundaries & Borders (optional) • Your Ethnic background (e.g. National Origin, City, State, ethnic self identity as a woman of color) • The purpose of adding your ethnicity is to demonstrate the diversity of Women of color only
  • A short personal bio – you need not have published before 
  • The Anthology Editorial Committee has the right to withdraw or extend this offer at any time at our discretion 

**Please follow submission guidelines. Submissions that don’t meet Guidelines will be discarded** 


  • We maintain the right to edit submissions, but will not publish without your review and permission. If your work is accepted, you will be required to sign a legal release form, and submit a photo and biography. You may be asked to further edit 
  • Simultaneous submissions will be accepted, but please notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere
