That the House Speaker is third in line to the presidency, therfore Liberian Assemblyman in the lower house of the chambers should have given the election of Mr. Koffa serious thoughts before putting him on the ballot for consideration, his party the Congress for Democratic Change, should have considered this proposition also, by putting Liberia's interests first. Electing the Corrupt People Party (CPP) and the CDC in 2023 will be a disaster and here is why.

The Editor, From statistical evidence, the CPP lawmakers dominate the House of Representatives. Given that they (CPP) are professing to be the best alternative to the CDC-led government, it would have been a great idea if they had produced a Deputy Speaker to strike a balance of power in the Lower House. But guess what? They elected a CONVICTED CRIMINAL, Rep. Fonati Koffa. Can you imagine that? Do we expect the CPP to actually clean the mess created by UP and CDC ? Cllr. Jonathan Koffa was the town…

The Supreme Court Samukai guilty opinion is an example CPP’s unpreparedness to lead this country

Alfred Bombo Kiadi Recently, the Liberian Supreme Court issued a landmark opinion against Brownie Samukai, in a case bordering on sheer impropriety. Samukai was accused of squandering US$1.1million meant for hungry soldiers confined to dingy barracks and grossly mistreated by the erstwhile government. This ruling is both symbolic, and, to some extent, it promotes the illusion that a so-called big fish can pay heavily for his corrupt footprint against the state in a land where egregious impunity has undermined access to justice and eroded confidence in the rule of law.…

By Martin K. N. Kollie   The soul of Liberia is being wrecked under a deluxe ex-soccer star and integrity is urgently required to salvage Liberians from this nightmare. The cherished ideals of our democracy are being briskly backpedaled. And this choice is to speak truth to power – a truth that hurts but also heals – a truth that evokes boldness and…

CPP Framework is a “Carte Blanche” for Patronage and Protectionism – A Critique

The Editor,   Article 10 Section 10:11 of “The CPP Framework” seemingly defeats the purpose and the genuineness of a viable opposition collaboration that is based on ideological conviction and philosophical belief(s). The framework is contentious, contagious, and undemocratic. It needs a careful relook and a critical readjustment. As I said, this framework is a “carte blanche” for patronage and protectionism. Here’s why. Liberians are overly desperate for a more genuine alternative after 24 months under the failing regime of footballing President George M. Weah. Such unquenched desperation has…
