Why I believe the CPP should be REJECTED, no offense!!
The Editor,
We have welcomed the idea of a formidable political force to dismantle the CDC-led government in 2023. Regrettably, deception, corruption, and GREED FOR POWER AND AUTHORITY have surfaced within the Collaborating Political Parties-CPP. We recently celebrated the signing of the CPP official policy document to lead Liberia into a new era. Little did we know that the CPP has a DEADLY agenda for the country and here is it.
Instead of projecting a unique governance structure to rebuild our country and correct the wrongs of the past, the CPP has made it emphatically clear that ONLY their members will run the country should they win the 2023 election. Sad! According to section 10.10. and 10.11.3 of the CPP policy document-Executive-Presidential Appointments, the guys said
“ONLY known, active and visible members within the CPP” shall be recommended for the following positions in government:
-A. Cabinet Positions: Ministries, heads of autonomous agencies, public corporations, state-owned enterprises, regulatory authorities, and commissions (including commissioners of board of commissioners), and heads of military and paramilitary institutions.
-B. Junior Cabinet Positions: Deputy ministers, deputy heads of autonomous agencies, and state-owned enterprises; ambassadors, and deputy heads of military and paramilitary institutions.
-C. Technical Level Positions: Assistant ministers, directors, and administrators.
-D. Local Government: Mayor of the city of Monrovia, county superintendents, assistant superintendents, and county inspectors, town chief, statutory district officials, clan chiefs, zone chiefs, general town chiefs, paramount chiefs, and district commissioners.
Forming a collaboration for the SOLE PURPOSE of distributing government positions ONLY among “CPP members” undermines the essence of democratic values and principles.
This action by CPP also violates Article 18 of the Liberian Constitution. WE MUST REJECT the CPP now. It’s time they restructure this devilish agenda.
Article 18 of the Liberian Constitution says: “All Liberian citizens shall have equal opportunity for work and employment regardless of sex, creed, religion, ethnic background, place of origin or POLITICAL AFFILIATION, and all shall be entitled to equal pay for equal work.
Despite these severe warnings within our constitution, the CPP has gone ahead to craft such demonic, and unpatriotic document with the thirst for power and money to humiliate our people. We must rise against the CPP now. It seems that the CPP is only after jobs and not the people. Professionals don’t necessarily have to be a part of CPP to recommended for appointed positions. We need an inclusive agenda that will accommodate everyone. We need a unique quality of professional services and not political affiliation to run the country.
Today, we all blame the current regime for violating the constitution, and the dismal performance of its public officials, but we celebrate another group of people who are planning to violate our rights. Sad! We need a change in Liberia, but with this devilish agenda, I doubt that CPP has a better plan for our country.
