The Good The Bad And The Blues is the 2011, 2012, 2013 winners of the prestigious Black Swamp Blues Society blues challenge. The band recently performed in Edmonton, Alberta and one of our editors watched them played. below is a brif bio of the band members.
Aayan Naim, playing lead guitar and singing is his thing, he grew up in Chicago started playing and singing in the 7th grade, turned pro in the 9th and never looked back By the way he grew up directly across the street from Muddy Waters, his brother-in- law was a Temptation, let’s just say he get’s it honest. Talk about blues heritage, he’s got it. The rich sound of this band, is a mixture of the fresh new sounds of the new and deep rooted past of Gospel, Blues, Soul and Funk. the blending of influences make a rich dynamic experience that touches every sense of your being, you can feel it see it and hear it,, well maybe not taste but if you could it would be home cooking like you have always imagined. The band is fronted by Aayan Naim, he grew up in Chicago directly across the street from Muddy Waters, talk about blues heritage he’s got it. Playing lead guitar and singing is his thing.
Wayne Harris: Bassist and vocals. What he brings is an unmistakable sound that keeps the groove moving. After playing all over the country he has chosen to apply his wealth of talent to ensuring this is the best musical experience you could imagine.
John Cunningham: Keyboard and vocals a master of sounds. From Hammond B3 to a piccolo flute and everything in between. He makes every song vibrate with magic and majesty. Hollywood Mike: Drummer and vocals. It is said a good drummer can make an average band good, and a great drummer makes a good band sound real good. So what do you get when you add Hollywood Mike with a great band? You get an INCREDIBLE BAND.
As the winners of the 2013 Black Swanp Blues Society’s Challenge, the band has now evolved into a music force to be experienced. Winning the 2013 blues challenge took the band to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tn. where they placed in the semi-finals, top 30 out of 255 bands from around the world.
