Monrovia – Residents of the Yellow Building Community gathered in their numbers early morning hours before the compound of businessman George Kailondo chanting slogans of support to him. Walking behind Kailondo, the crowd held posters with the inscription ‘Kailondo is innocent, he’s not a killer, Kailondo is a businessman and a philanthropist’. The crowd was made up of women, youth and elders.
The neighbors of Kailondo said that their gathering is to send a message to the country that Kailondo is not a killer, adding that the incident was an unfortunate one. A resident of Yellow Building, Mento Flomo, said that they gathered at the residence of the businessman to show that the community is standing behind him.
“What happened was an accident, people are carrying news around that Kialondo kill the man, we living in this community want to tell the nation and the world that Kailondo is innocent of anything.” Flomo said Kailondo is helping less fortunate people in the community, adding that people should stop carrying lies around.
“He’s a businessman and he helping people in the community. I just want people out there who do not know what happened to stop spoiling Kailondo’s name,” Flomo continued. Another resident, Sarah Davis, said since Kailondo moved in their community, he has proven to be an affable person. “We do not know him to be a bad or proud person. We gather here today to show support to our neighbor,” Davis said. “He served people good, he’s a friendly man. All the time he has been here he has been a good, and any news that he is a killer is lie,” Davis added.
Barely a month after his death, the family of Mr. Dan Orogun, the late Guaranty Trust Bank Manager broke their silence with pointed jabs at businessman George Kailondo, accusing him of being responsible for the death of their brother, father and son. Since the incident, neither the Liberia National Police nor the ministry of Justice has revealed the outcome of the investigation of the late bank manager and the primary suspect. Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Felix Orogun, brother of the late Orogun, accused Mr. Kailondo of killing their relative. source: fpa
